About the project

About Buryat Global

A knowledge hub of the Buryat people — language, communities and genealogies, history, culture. Non-commercial, independent and non-partisan, across today's borders.

What this site is

Buryat Global collects and organises knowledge about the Buryat people: the language, communities and genealogies, history and culture. The project follows the people rather than a border — Buryats of Russia, Mongolia, Shenehen and the world diaspora share one cultural space, and the site keeps them in one frame.

Start with who the Buryats are.

Who runs it

The project is non-commercial, independent and non-partisan. Buryat Global does not advocate for a political party, state or territorial project. It documents histories, languages, communities and living heritage across borders and makes its sources and editorial choices visible. One editor runs it in their own time, with no institution, funding or advertising behind it. That also sets the pace: everything published here was checked by hand.

How material gets in

A resource enters the catalog only after editorial verification — the source is opened, described and given an access status and a review date. Uncertainty is labelled rather than smoothed over. The full rules are in the editorial charter.

Language

The site is published in Russian and English. There is no Buryat-language text yet: machine translation is not published as finished language, so Buryat copy will appear only after a native speaker has reviewed it.

Getting in touch

Suggestions, corrections and removal requests are welcome through the contact page. Otherwise, the material itself is the best place to start.
